This is my favorite out of all of them; it is astounding in concept, style and detail. Sadly, some animu version is going win out because he looks "kwaii desu". If the artist is reading this, I'm truly sorry that your piece isn't receiving the consideration it deserves.
However, employers have better taste than DA members. I believe you are more likely to receive a real job, if that is any consolation.

Why so serious?

The art is very well done, but there's not much heart to it.

Other than the straw. The straw is awesome.

"Why so frivolous?" is the better question. Someone put effort into this; It's probably special to them, so why shouldn't it be to me?

How does one measure "heart"? Some things require than one glance to find meaning in them.

The straw's ok, but that isn't the first thing that catches my attention.

Yeah. I guess so. I just realized the anime one was in the lead and it does seem like an injustice.

I just wish this author put more humor into their piece. The straw is about the extent. And humor is RAMPANT throughout the comic.

thanks, sorry if i came off as a little bad moody before- it's pretty much for the reason you just said. for some reason the dead body made me laugh, though.

Hey strangerslight, I just wanted to say your comment was very meaningful to me! I doubt I'll get close to winning, I put a lot of heart into the piece and afterward I knew it would lose indefinitely to something more comedic, but that is how the comic goes so I completely understand. I guess I was just trying to show that zee captain and Mr. Snippy do have some moments where they enjoy a simple sunrise (hahaI'msocorny), so there's where I was going with this XD

As for my drawing, there are a lot of proportional errors in it that I wished I had fixed before I posted it, and many of the other finalists picture are just flawless :) Also, the bodies and the straw was my bit of humor ;) and thanks seastone for the compliment on the straw! The fact that anyone is willing to talk about my piece is just wonderful and makes my day <3
