Are those birds Siamese twins? You could say their appearance strikes as a bit... discordant. Ha. Ha.
On a serious note, I like how the forest floor is slanted perpendicular to the frame of the art itself, and how the rider and lady are still standing at roughly right angles to the frame. The stern expression on the lady's face, as well as the Siamese twin birds with glowing eyes, are quite telling. The antlers on one of the birds reminds me of the deer in The Watcher, which makes it more eerie when considering that the birds are watching them. What's off-putting is the bright, in-your-face sunlight. I know something must be wrong because the light forces me to focus more on the bird and the lady, but the daylight itself gives the impression that everything is normal, even though everything else communicates otherwise.
