I have just joined deviant with a couple of paintings of my own. The obvious thing is when browsing through artists work is that there is so much eye candy that rarely paintings truly catch my eye. So I must say this painting caught my eye, the composistion is fantastic and the amount of work you put in should be praised. I enjoyed your other pieces but, for me this is going to favourites the minute I figure out how all this deviant member thing works. Also any criticism on my work would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps not the most detailed piece of yours, but probably the second most impacting one besides Fate.
I noticed the title first, expecting some kind of religious reference. What I found was this picture, where death is the only salvation in a hopeless and godless world. Men of faith, of war, of duty, and of bravery; they all felt despair, and became faithless. I found myself imagining myself walking along that same path, feeling that same despair as I look over that edge and prepare to embrace oblivion.
But then I saw the child. Walking back towards the damned world, that claimed his family no doubt, with a face of determination and resignation. To know that a small boy has more courage than the soldier is a sad thing indeed, but is all the more encouraging. He has strength to continue, and hope to drive him.
That said, I love this piece lol. I'm watching you, waiting for more breathtaking pieces of inspiration. Keep up the good work.
It's awesome! There's lots of details, it seems like it's very time-consuming work to draw such a beautiful painting. And I love the city in the background so much! I'm wondering what the boy in white in the foregruond is doing.
