World Passes By

The world is blindly asleep
It seals its eyes,
From those that lie down to weep
Their prayers left unanswered,
By the shattered silence
Of the crumbling, concrete street.
That is the gray and dismal downfall
That is the vision of the degradation and the toll,
Of our first world, capitalist empire.
