The latest hate bucket issue is directed towards art critics.
In particular towards people that tell artists that the concept in their work isn't "original".
For example, here's a brilliant comment that someone sent me about my Seasonscape
"swager jacking ...... hmm who hasn't seen this on deviant, even if u did redo it
get a original concept"
Clawing through the lack of grammar... this was referring to the more older and photomanipped 4 seasons piece:
Oh noes. SURELY, I stole the concept of drawing a tree in all 4 seasons from evol1314.
Never mind the fact that I was linked to evol's piece months after I've made Seasonscape.
Lets start a witch hunt while we're at it!
MAYBE even use DA and google to do an image search.
Would you look at that:
Surely Evol stole the idea from this deviant!
And that deviant stole the idea from this deviant:
:thumb18820878:
Oh look. Here's some other images found on google:
Even little kids get assignments to draw "4 SEASONS" by their teacher:
Now, what have we learned from all this?
That in the world, where 6 billion people make images everyday a lot of images are bound to look similar...
Especially if an artist is ASKED by a client to draw a specific idea!
For example- a music band links an illustrator to various paintings of other artists as reference and then says "make us a thing similar to this, this and this, but with more fire and with dragon".
Or they link an illustrator to a specific artwork that they find on google and say "this is the poses of the characters we want on our cover".
A lot of art isn't just about the idea of what you're drawing- it's about EXECUTION.
It is pretty common thing throughout history where artists draw the same scene from the bible, just in different styles.
I'm astounded at the fact that people think there's only 1 "Last supper" painting in existence and that it was done only by Da Vinci
No there isn't.
Look:
Last supper
Bassano, Jacopo 1542:
last supper 1520
Last supper
GIOTTO di Bondone 1337
Last supper
Spoltero 1300:
... It goes so far back in centuries that it's impossible to tell who was the first to draw "Last Supper".
And even if it's not commissioned specifically... perhaps there's even a collective unconscious noosphere that makes us create similar images?
Completely unrelated concepts and ideas can sometime have totally eerie similarities.
Because my images are so famous on the net, I often get linked to other images and ideas that look similar, yet I've never seen them before!
In fact....
Here's a hilarious example of artworks having similar angle, colors, even shapes!
It's just totally weirding me out....
, as I've been noted apparently looks like a scene from final fantasy game which I've never even played:
Is Final Fantasy game stealing my thoughts? Should I start wearing a tin foil hat?!
....
So, the next time some critic tells you that your idea isn't original or that it looks like you stole the idea/perspective/angle from somewhere, tell em to shove their one sided opinion where the sun don't shine... with this journal.
People or machines?
Since December 10th, I've got 60 thousand extra views on me profile, but no actual jump in comments or favs.
Leave a boop if you're alive and if you found me recently via some means other than DA.
Heckin errors
I seem to be experiencing an absurd amount of errors on DA today.
Not sure if my firefox browser is responsible, but the upload button no longer works and I have to go through stash to submit anything.
Also, "browse popular 8 hours" page is no longer showing things for 8 hours, but instead "popular of all time".
Is there an explanation for this madness?
A billion Soviet Shmeckles/an improbable reference
People sometimes ask if my art was inspired by __________ , but often the answer is that it wasn't, because I've never seen/read ________ (due to me being far more immersed in Soviet novels than American pop culture).
Today I came across yet another fantastic improbability, an obscure/extremely rare Soviet Poster that seems to be exactly like the character "Stealy" out of Rick and Morty.
He's even called "Hapuga", which translates to "Stealy".
Evaluate it for yourself and see how many similarities you can find:
This is a perfect example of people having similar ideas spanning across completely different cultures/time.
