DISNEY RAPES MY CHILDHOOD'S IMAGINATION

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 4, 2011, 6:36 PM
I JUST SAW THE TRAILER FOR "JOHN CARTER" AND I'M FILLED WITH RAGE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rf55G…

Edgar Rice Burroughs is TOTALLY spinning in his grave.

WTF DISNEY? WHY DID YOU MAKE ALL THE MARS PEOPLE WHITE?! HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING FROM AVATAR?
AVATAR'S NATIVES WERE BLUE, NEARLY NAKED AND NOBODY QUESTIONED THAT.
RED PEOPLE OF MARS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RED, FIT AND WEARING ONLY JEWELRY!
DID YOU HAVE TO SLAP CLOTHES ON EVERYONE? THIS IS BLASPHEMY OF JOHN CARTER! BLASPHEMY I SAY!

THIS IS HOW IT'S SUPPOSED ACCURATELY ACCORDING TO THE BOOK:

DISNEY? WHY U PICK WHITEST ACTRESS POSSIBLE FOR A MARS PRINCESS?
WHY U IGNORE THAT RED PEOPLE OF MARS ARE MEANT TO BE PHYSICALLY AND VISUALLY DIFFERENT FROM WHITE PEOPLE?

...OH WELL I'D GO SEE IT ANYWAY BECAUSE IM A CONSUMER WHORE. :(

Wish it wasn't Disney doing this so they could produce it properly. You can't have naked people running around in a disney movie. :( I wonder if they will plug up their belly buttons in the movie or mess that up too. Ah well, wont waste the $11 at the theater. Will wait till it comes out at redbox.

Oh, I guess Disney is the new thing people hate on because it is popular. I understand they can't really have nudity (which makes this an odd choice for them to remake) but at least they will put decent money behind it and give it a chance to be good. That is more than I can say for M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong (I bring him up because he thought avatar:the last airbender was a bunch of indian references instead of the blatantly chinese ones)

They just doesn't work like in the old times. Want it easy. Look at their animations for example - like the version of "Alladin" (almost any of them). It is supposed to be very serious story with very deep "plot" - but the Disney end-product even at that time was... Couple of jerks are moving around making idiotic jokes and looking even more idiotic. How fun... Even if you watched "cartoons" - well that day you WILL STOP! The are something like Hollywood for me - making a lot of gibberish to sell as fast as possible and get the money and go somewhere to do something else... And we as a good users will swallow all it up, so they can continue doing such stuff... Now honestly - where are the serious productions like "Fire and Ice" or "Star-chaser The legend of Orin" or you name it - everyone at the time watched something and his/hers heart said "it's so cool". And this here is all the same - gibberish no matter is it or not painted, rendered or acted from "real actors". And why they make movies based (not only Disney, WB or whoever) on books, when they NEVER EVER use the book's story - like the pure example of "War of the Worlds" by Herbert Wells - they just took the Book's name and then put their gibberish behind it, then jump on all this thing two or three times and that's it "the recipe :D" I have that book and have read it... I do not even know how many times. Well I will keep the comment on the movie for my self - but it sounds like "what the hell!" So, based on the story so far - why they should make the people red, when they can rethink all the story, make their own... ohh I am so tempted to use some specific words here... Their own "stuff" (decided to be polite and resisted ;) ) and use the name of the original - they take free advertisement for the label, and some storyline (so nothing new to actually think off) and then twist it, twirl it, abuse it until no one actually knows what the hell was that - and they are ready. Strange why some of us users, have never learned to be "grateful" for this kind of "art"?!
Best regards to everybody who don't swallow everything.
Sometimes watching the movies, reading new books or playing the new games i start feeling like trash-can where they just throw away their scraped works...

I must agree there,I remember when Disney had a bit a class still left in them. Now they are practically throwing sh!t at the wall and trying to see what sticks to it. I think TLM as you so put is still an improvement as to what they have come out with recently both movie and TV shows. I do think their idea for with making John Carter in the first place shows how writer have totally run out of idea. I do think what they have done is total BS; and they should have let Miramax pick up the movie at least then they could have the more nude look to the Marians and maybe better actors choices to play them as well. Why I chose Miramax over other film companies is because the got bought out by Disney Corp. in 1993, so they could still have marked some market profits.

Hm, painfully true remarks there, I'd say! :O

Though to be honest...The Black Cauldron is my absolute favorite "animated" Disney movie, due to several key factors:

1. No bullshit sing-alongs. (If they did have any songs; Hire Ozzy Osbourne to make 'em, due to the epic sword-and-sorcery vibe of the film...Seriously.)
2. Dark, gritty atmosphere with ACTUAL combat. (The Sword and the Stone aint got NOTHIN' on The Black Cauldron!)
3. A villain whom is too goddamned badass for words. (Much like the Firebird and Chernabog of Fantasia fame...)
4. Actual BLOOD! (Which is surprising, but epic for a Disney movie, nonetheless.)
5. A Disney Princess that isn't a camwhore. (I betcha five bucks which two Princesses take the top "Camwhore" awards. Go ahead. Guess.)
6. JOHN HURT AS THE VILLAIN'S VOICE. HOLY SHIT WAFFLES. (Seriously; he has an AWESOME voice. D8)
7. Gurgi, because I find him to be the least-annoying "Disney Sidekick". (While I find a certain Red-shelled parasite to be the most.)
8. It's effectively the most underrated Disney film I've ever known. (And I've seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit...even though technically that movie was created by Amblin Entertainment...mostly.)
9. Evil Minions that are SCARY AS FUCK. (Seriously, first time I saw this film when I was 9, I nearly shat my pants when the Cauldron-Born rose up from the underearth.)
10. It's as sure as hell a helluvalot better than what Disney mostly churned out afterwards. (Not to mention it's in desperate need of a PROPER Re-mastered DVD/Blu-Ray release; INCLUDING the infamous "Disolving Minion" deleted scene.)

...Has the magistrate reached a verdict? (...Why, oh why doesn't a Quintesson PLZ account exist yet? :iconsobplz:)

I never actually saw the Black Cauldron, but based on your descriptions I ,might now just want to check it out now.Tho movies I like the best still Lion King and the Never Ending Story if I had to choose at the moment. If I had to guess at camwhores as you call them I would obviously guess TLM is one for sure, another would be Beauty and the Beast or The Princess and the Frog. Sing-alongs I can tolerate to an extent but not too many at one time; I could go on all day but i think this is enough for now.

Yeah, obviously Disney likes to take their artistic license and run with it. I can understand adding clothes to make it more family friendly (it is Disney after all), but c'mon, red body paint shouldn't be a hard thing to add in since it is obviously a key point of differences between Earthlings and those from Mars.

I understand the clothes. It would be hard to rate a movie where half the cast stands around in nothing but body paint. I cant say Ive read the books (Never heard of them until recently, but Im intrigued), but if the mars people were red, dammit, there's no reason they should ever NOT be in the movie adaption. Its not like its even that much work to pain them all red.

OMG people are white it's so racist.

I'm not even white and I hate this bullshit, I bet not even one of every ten people bitching here has read JCoM, and for whomever had and thought Disney would adapt it faithfully, sorry but you're an idiot.

You want sex and multicoloured people, turn on HBO. This is Disney, if it's even mildly good people will be sucking the movies' cock and pretend they didn't hate it before once it's out. And it's a trailer, they have months of post-production to make Dejah redder than she already is because I don't know if you're blind, but she's two tones of red, it's not like she's John's colour.

Most (in a scale of one to a thousand) of the people here will never do anything even mildly good in their lives, yet every looser here loves hating on everything.

Are you saying he is racist or he is calling the movie racist? I'm pretty sure it is hard to call something racist against red aliens since they are, ya know fictional and all. His point was that he wished it was more true to the book, I don't see a problem with expressing that opinion.

"yet every looser here loves hating on everything." says the person calling everyone putting their two cents in a loser... it should be one o by the way also not two.

If you don't agree with something being said fine but there is no reason to be rude and/or obnoxious whatever point you were trying to make then is lost to that.

I wasn't complaining, I was pointing out how you were being idiotic. You were complaining about how people complain. Would it not have been wiser to keep your trap shut?

I am not complaining as I have no opinion on this matter really. Haven't read the books and don't really care too, most certainly not spending my money on a Disney movie either. I just have a thing about getting in the way of people who are obnoxious just for the sake of them being obnoxious.

Also, I didn't know that joke because I choose not to chat and spend all my time online. I actually have a life off the computer which seems rare now a days.

I'm done with this "conversation" in any case. I spoke my opinion to your complaint the end. It would be rude to carry on in alexiuss' journal.
