Best kind of journalism is the one that generates mass opinion on the said matter. Best kind of a news story is the one that gathers the most audience to itself, one that tells a story most passionately and most clearly.
Today I present to you an idea- interactive opinion journalism/news.
Every news article that goes out there on the DA News page is viewed by thousands of deviantartists, every comment is read, every opinion is dissected and discussed/fought over in the comments section.
Interactive journalism is basically a NEWS article with an open question which you answer yes or no. It's a news article with a poll attached to it, that'll either approve the news, or reject it... at the same time gathering a vote number to itself, leaving the administration of the site something of interest to ponder about!
Today, my question to you is:
Should deviant get bigger?
My personal opinion, as an awesome reporter/Da old timer- yes, and as fast as possible.
We are all artists/art viewers, aren't we? What does every artist wish: more views, more opinions about their art, more helpful criticism, or making more art sales, correct?
Statistically and inevitably, no matter what amount of people view the art, no matter who they are and where they come from, a certain % of them will be respectable artists/art buyers.
Therefore, the more people view DA, the more art we deviantartists show off and the more artworks we sell and the more decent crits we get... even if we get more haters, we also get more lovers at the same time.
Bigger audience = better in this case, yes?
Some might say that if DA gets bigger, the site will become facebook-ish/myspacey and fear the horror of it. What is so bad about face-book-ishness? What the hell is facebook-ish-ness anyway? Is this some kind of syndrome large sites suffer that I'm unaware of?
Facebook is good for keeping contacts with friends- the only bad side is the time wasted-ness of it, but that's your own damn fault if you choose to spend too much time on facebook and too little time on more positive/productive things.
I want DA to become bigger than youtube. Right now we are WAY behind. The most viewed artwork (as far as I'm aware) on DA has 8 million views, while the most viewed video on youtube has like 200+ million views.
Personally I'm siding with youtube a lot because Youtube pays people for viewing their videos (with a little add space).
What if someday DA paid artists for exhibiting on it (with a little tiny add box) if they chose such? Wouldn't that be awesome? Getting money for just putting up art?
In summary -lets all make DA grow faster! Do it. We're all in it together as a delicious community of sorts.

People or machines?
Since December 10th, I've got 60 thousand extra views on me profile, but no actual jump in comments or favs.
Leave a boop if you're alive and if you found me recently via some means other than DA.
Heckin errors
I seem to be experiencing an absurd amount of errors on DA today.
Not sure if my firefox browser is responsible, but the upload button no longer works and I have to go through stash to submit anything.
Also, "browse popular 8 hours" page is no longer showing things for 8 hours, but instead "popular of all time".
Is there an explanation for this madness?
A billion Soviet Shmeckles/an improbable reference
People sometimes ask if my art was inspired by __________ , but often the answer is that it wasn't, because I've never seen/read ________ (due to me being far more immersed in Soviet novels than American pop culture).
Today I came across yet another fantastic improbability, an obscure/extremely rare Soviet Poster that seems to be exactly like the character "Stealy" out of Rick and Morty.
He's even called "Hapuga", which translates to "Stealy".
Evaluate it for yourself and see how many similarities you can find:
This is a perfect example of people having similar ideas spanning across completely different cultures/time.

I think yes and no.
Yes, because there is the possibility of great artists coming on here to critique you, more views, more possibility of people commissioning you, probably good for the people who don't get any commissions.
And no, because there are those people who have no interest and or talent and wish to put art up here for the 'lolz' it just takes up search engine space and possible usernames [ Which I hate finding my perfect name is taken! ] Then there'd be art theft, [ Twice as bad as it already is ] trolls, do we really want that? I think dA just needs to make the people already here more noticed, not bring in more people.
The problem for people believing is should expand is that they want to be noticed, so we should do something about it rather than finding the social network [ expansion ] way of solving it.
