My laptop is now perma-broken due to a)Meesh stepping on it b)Airport breaking off part of it c)Battery frying out d)power chord no longer operating
So... I'm gonna need to acquire a new laptop for traveling to conventions/drawing RA on the plane. Suggest ideas for new laptop type! Possibly some kind of indestructible tablet?
I've had fantastic experience with Lenovo and all the other business people in my family have as well; it's become quite the industry standard in quite a few companies that I've heard of for its durability. While expensive (and a Chinese brand, which leaves something to be questionable, I suppose), this old laptop has gone through hell and high water, and aside from the case being cracked and held together with ductape (because it being expensive means parts are expensive... T-T), it's been a charm over the past 6 years. That's the hardware, anyways. As for the software, I have no recommendations.
These Toughbooks definitely look indestructible, and there are a few that switch from laptop to tablet. That might be your best bet, if you don't mind spending a few thousand dollars. If you would prefer spending a few thousand dollars for better overall computer performance, you might try Alienware. But be careful; depending on what you add, they can get really expensive rather quickly. I checked once. The base price was $2000-ish, and when I was done choosing parts it came out to around $8000.
Have a look at the Dell ATG series, Pretty tough notebooks, Most recent one (E6430 ATG) can be configured with a i7, a Gpu with 1Gb Mem and 8Gb Ram Should be strong enough for Photoshop, with out any hassles.
