I hate how they autotune random parts in the song to make it sound cool... as if the songs themselves aren't bad enough

What I don't like about the pop music in my time: the repetition and a general lack of talent.

I don't even have a least favorite thing. 8) Pop isn't my favorite, and some of it is pretty ehh, but the category is alright, and don't really have a list of dislikes for any of it.

Ludicrous use of autotune, all the songs that sound the same...... the fact that there's no real talent in pop music, its all machines and pop starts are purely about good looks.

The fact that it is so popular. It isn't my style and a lot of it just not very good. It doesn't take much talent to create music better than a good amount of pop songs. There is a lot more meaningful music that is more well-written and just overall better (not just being opinionated here), that people never hear of. And I guess that can be said to just about anything but alas it is what I dislike the most. End weird rant.

Auto-tune. End of story.

Okay, maybe not quite, but seriously, how are you supposed to be able to put any expression into music if you're restricted to a single, tambre-less note? Musicians and singers spend so much time perfecting expressive details (vibrato, "bending" the pitch in certain places, etc.) that are completely wiped out by auto-tune. Auto-tuning an entire song is just irresponsible!

I won't say todays music is absolutely terriable as it is slowly developing into indie tock proven by the unpredicted success of fun. and Gotye and I find myself rather attched to indie rock of recent, however!
Justin Beiber is tolerable up to a point, it's his fans that take the cake though, same with 1D (whom I never cared for as soon as I saw their faces which was before hearing their songs)
But the one that really drives me round the bend is Chris Brown, God help us all.

That any body with a crazy outfit and an annoying hit single can become a pop star. Oh no wait, thats how its always been. I also miss when alternative music didn't mean any body who knows how to rhyme blood with seven other words. :P

Recycling is the word you're looking for. It's no longer music, but the same ground meat put through a blender mixed with lyrics about sex that don't make sense.

A prime example of blender slush- Turn Me On. Not only has he managed to make the same tune slightly different, they also managed to create lyrics with no creative value because they are so simple yet (the best part), they hardly even make sense. That deserves a complete round of a-shitty-plause. I don't really have anything against pop artists, but they, in my opinion, do not deserve such a title. Until they get creative, they stay meaningless.

It's just a random lyric that appears a million times in every song. All the pop songs. All the time. Always on the radio.
...Unless I imagined it.

Ah yes I've heard it a couple of times. Also the word 'baby', and if you search for the most common words in lyrics it comes up with stuff like shawty, sexy, party, dropping, dance, booty, love and really anything sex related. It really is what music boils down to now-a-days, nothin' but gettin' laid apparently. Taking you back all the way to the 1930's, I recall hearing a song simply about holidays, and the simplicity of life. How ever you look at it, in my opinion it was the pinnacle of music. Not because I think it is good, but simply the diversity of lyrics- every song was different. But now you're lucky not to see clones on street corners anymore, never mind repeated lyrics. If our melodies, beats and rhythms have evolved, why have our lyrics been the same for so long?
It sucks ass.
And no, you have not imagined it. Although there are many stations out there devoted to love songs, they seem to all be the same.

-using an analogy to describe love that doesn't make any sense. Ex. Train's "Drive By" or Katie Perry's "ET"
-name dropping the band's name or singer's name within the song. Ex. Soulja Boy's "Soilja Boy"
-making a whinny "ah" sound after words. Ex. Jonas Brother's "Hello, Goodbye"
-someone 25+ singing how great it is to be a teen and have young love

Music Video wise...
-half naked bimbos in male singer videos
-half naked meat heads in female singer videos
